My Weekend at Pensacon 2016

The cast of Deadgar's Dark Coffin Classics was invited to attend 2016's Pensacon. This was our first time, though it was the event's 4th run. I was told it just gets bigger and better every year - and I saw nothing contrary to that statement.

Getting off the plane was an experience in itself. Walking down to the luggage claim, we were greeted by driver's holding a sign with our names on it! After we grabbed our luggage, we all piled into the vehicle waiting for us outside, and headed over to the hotel to get ready for dinner. The cast, as well as Jimmy Decker (promoter/manager to DDCC), Greg "the Hammer" Valentine, and the lovely Judy Smith went out to a very tasty Pub located near the hotel for some food and drinks - and were later met up with Deep Roy.

Each day of Pensacon, we would head over to the convention centre for a quick breakfast in the greenroom, and then up to the "Guest floor" to set up our table. Like always, we had our merchandise for sale, and Halloween Hot Sauce!

I couldn't believe the imense talent that surounded our booth. Among the many individuals on the "Guest floor," we shared an aisle with Count Gore de Vol, Jerrad Vunovich, Dead Dick Hammer, a few of the "Nasty Boy" wrestlers and WWE Hall of Famers, Michael Rooker, David Prowse, members of the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast and many more.

Everyone at the convention was very friendly and professional. Drivers were provided by the event to drive us wherever we needed to go, and I mean wherever. The volunteers, escorts, and all the staff were a big help a lot of fun, and because of them, the event went without a hiccup. They made it all look easy!

Whether it was our crazy antics at the table, being able to meet and interact with all the fans, or just sit back and watch the never-ending flow of people dressed up in a variety of costumes wander about the convention, each day of Pensacon was memorable. We felt very welcome and at home, and would love to have another opportunity to go back.

I have to say, my favorite moments of the event have to be hosting a pannel discussion with Count Gore de Vol and hearing all he had to say about being a Horror Host, meeting Michael Rooker and him giving the show, as well as my Coffin Rock project, a shoutout, and last but not least, going out to The Vinyl to hear a jaw-dropping performance by Molly Ringwald!

Thank you so much Pensacon for having us! - And Jimmy Decker for all the help!
